"Omnia Praeclara Rara" - "All Excellent Things are Rare"

The Founders
“We built OPR so you could finally bring to your eyewear the same care you have brought to every other decision in your life”

We are Federica and Idriss, we have been together for twenty-one years. Federica is Italian, Idriss is French and for ten of those years we lived together in Italy before moving to New York to build OPR. We are designers. We make decisions with our eyes and our taste. Every artisan we work with in Italy, every silhouette, every appointment is shaped around giving you full attention.

We are married. We are parents. We build OPR together because we believe the most important things are made by people who are deeply invested in their outcome. Every frame is ours. We are accountable for all of it.

OPR stands for "Omnia Praeclara Rara" - "All excellent things are rare". We chose a Latin phrase (from Cicerone) because it captures the operating principle we refuse to compromise: if it is not excellent, it does not belong.

Omnia Praeclara Rara

Small batches.
Obsessive craft.
No shortcuts.

Every OPR frame is made in Italy, across a small group of family-run ateliers where the person who cuts the acetate is the same person who polishes the finished piece. These are workshops with generations of knowledge in their hands, in several regions of Italy, each chosen for what they do best.

Italy is where Federica is from. It is also where the two of us lived together for ten years before we built OPR in New York. The relationships we have with these artisans were not negotiated when the brand began, they were inherited from a life we had already been living. They protect the material. They refine what we bring them. They tell us when a design can be better. That honesty built over years, is where every OPR frame is born.
