We use acetate produced for over 70 years in the north of Italy by Mazzucchelli and Laes. It is made from cotton and wood pulp, not petroleum. It is biodegradable and hypoallergenic. It is the material that has defined European eyewear for over a century, prized for the depth and warmth of its color.
Every choice we make about material, volume and pace is guided by the same principle. The frames we make should be better for you, and also better for what comes after all of us. That is why we work with the best Italian manufacturers. That is why our collections are small. That is why every frame is built to stay in your life for years, not seasons.

OPR frames are designed and built to last decades, not seasons. The hardware is replaceable. The acetate holds its color and its structure across the years. The fit can always be restored. This is what we mean when we say sustainably Made in Italy.
Our Tune-Up service exists in part because we believe the frames you own should serve you for as long as you want them. Maintenance is included in the relationship. You should never feel pressure to replace what still works.

Every frame is produced in small runs, enough to honor the design. When a production is complete, it is complete. What you wear exists in finite numbers because the craft behind it demands time and attention that cannot be multiplied.
